Erection, commissioning, maintenance and skilled site manpower for thermal power projects across India, from coal yard to switchyard.
One partner for the whole plant
A to Z Engineering Enterprises Pvt. Ltd. is a Mumbai-based engineering company working on multiple power plant projects across India.
We support EPC contractors, plant owners and O&M operators with trained engineers, supervisors and ITI-qualified technicians who mobilise to site quickly and work to the plant's quality, safety and schedule requirements. Our name is our scope: every system of a thermal station, A to Z.
Mechanical
Boiler pressure parts, TG set, pumps, piping, structures.
Electrical
Transformers, HT/LT switchgear, cabling, testing.
C&I
Field instruments, loop checking, DCS support.
Manpower
Engineers, Diploma and ITI trades on demand.
From a lump of coal to the switch on your wall
A coal-fired plant turns chemical energy into heat, heat into steam, steam into rotation and rotation into electricity. Press play to follow the 11 stages, or tap any part of the plant.
Four forms of energy, one shaft
Coal
Carbon and hydrogen in coal store energy, released by burning with air in the furnace.
Steam
Heat turns feedwater into high-pressure, superheated steam inside the boiler tubes.
Rotation
Steam expands through turbine blades and spins the rotor at 3,000 rpm.
Power
The generator converts rotation into 3-phase electricity, stepped up for the grid.
Why 3,000 rpm?
India's grid runs at 50 Hz. A 2-pole generator makes one full electrical cycle per revolution, so the turbine-generator shaft must turn 50 times a second.
Three phases, 120° apart
The generator stator has three windings spaced 120° apart. In India they are colour-coded red, yellow and blue, all the way from the generator terminals to the switchyard.
| Technology | Main steam pressure | Steam temperature (MS / RH) | Common unit sizes | Typical efficiency |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Subcritical | ~150–170 bar | 535–540 °C | 210 · 250 · 500 MW | ~36–38% |
| Supercritical | ~240–250 bar | 565 / 593 °C | 660 · 800 MW | ~39–41% |
| Ultra-supercritical | ~270+ bar | ≥ 600 / 600 °C | 660 · 800 MW | ~42–44% |
Coal still keeps India's lights on
Renewables now make up more than half of installed capacity, but coal plants still generate most of the electricity India uses, day and night. That keeps thermal units, and the people who build and maintain them, in demand.
Installed capacity mix
Total 548,858 MW · Source: Central Electricity Authority, June 2026Firm, round-the-clock power
Thermal units supply power at night and during low-wind periods, balancing solar and wind on the grid.
New-generation units
New capacity is being built as supercritical and ultra-supercritical units of 660 and 800 MW, needing skilled erection crews.
Flexible & cleaner operation
Existing units are being upgraded for flexible load, FGD and emission control, which means steady shutdown and retrofit work.
Services across the power island and BOP
From the first column erected to synchronisation, and every annual overhaul after it.
Inside a thermal power station
Our crews work in every section of the plant. Tap a scene to view it larger.
From requirement to site in five steps
The same sequence for a single specialist or a full erection crew.
Requirement
Scope, trades, headcount and schedule agreed with the client's site team.
Screening
Document check, interview and practical trade test for welders, fitters and electricians.
Induction
Medical fitness, safety induction, PPE issue and site gate pass.
Deployment
Crew reports under a site supervisor with a daily work plan.
Reporting
Daily progress, attendance and quality records shared with the client.
Zero harm is part of the scope
Power plant sites combine heights, heavy lifts, high pressure and high voltage. Our site practice is built around that.
Permit to work & LOTO
No job starts without a valid permit. Lock-out tag-out on every electrical and pressure isolation.
HIRA & toolbox talks
Hazard identification before each new activity and a toolbox talk at every shift start.
IBR welding & QA/QC
Qualified welders for pressure parts, with NDT, hydro test and inspection records kept per joint.
Build your career at India's power plants
We are hiring Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Diploma holders and ITI technicians for project sites across India.
